On January 15th, the first Wuhan Health and Wellness Science and Technology Innovation Competition (hereinafter referred to as "the Competition") held an outstanding achievement exhibition and award ceremony at the China Optics Valley Science and Technology Convention and Exhibition Center. A total of 35 participating projects won gold, silver and bronze awards in four tracks: biomedicine and testing reagents, medical devices (active/passive), clinical diagnosis and treatment, and big health. This competition is hosted by the Wuhan Municipal Health Commission, co-organized by the Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology Innovation and the Wuhan Association for Science and Technology, and organized by the Wuhan Medical Technology Transfer Center, the Joint Office of the Wuhan Medical and Health Society, and the Health Bureau of Wuhan East Lake New Technology Development Zone. A total of 394 research teams from 79 medical and health institutions, universities and pharmaceutical enterprises signed up for the competition, focusing on multiple fields of health and wellness, covering the latest scientific and technological achievements such as artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing and brain-computer interfaces. Among the 35 gold, silver and bronze award-winning projects, 31 were from medical institutions, accounting for nearly 89%.
Just as the DNA double helix structure design of the gold, silver and bronze award trophies of the competition implies, the competition highlights its close connection with life sciences, focuses on the cutting-edge exploration and innovative practices in the field of life and health, and aims to promote the application and development of life sciences in health and wellness.
